Pros

The building, cafeteria, job looks good on the resume. They have a gym on-site but it's not free. Tuition reimbursement.

Cons

No work/life balance because of tiny budgets and understaffing. 12hr workdays. The health insurance is insanely expensive for a company with 20K employees and bargaining power. $650/mo for employee + spouse on an average PPO, because they want you on the high deductible HSA. My husband's small business employer charges less. Conde Nast charges far far less. The maternity leave policy is disgraceful and forces you to take vacation time for it. Compared to other magazine companies it's clear Hearst does not care about the wellbeing of their employees (and no, an on-site nurse and gym don't cut it). Salary is lower than industry standard. Negotiate for more vacation time, what they offer is stingy.

Pros

Well-organized and good communication. As a contractor, I found Hearst to be a pleasure to work with.

Cons

I don't have any cons to report other than that the accounts payable is out of North Carolina and can take 60 days to receive payment.
