Pros

Core group of coworkers pull together to give the best care possible to our residents. Departments work together to meet standards and improve the culture. Building management works hand in hand with the floor staff to accomplish goals. Constant training an resources offered in the communities. The managers value their employees and make it easier to work together as a team and brain storm new avenues of care for the ever changing times.

Cons

Staff appreciation is left for the department managers to accomplish alone. Very little in the way of support for our managers when it comes to HOW they are to appreciate the floor staff, and they get very little appreciation for the long hours, missed lunches, and heartaches that are attached to this industry. Staffing is a problem state wide, but burn out is a real thing too. Better education and advancement opportunities could help with the staffing challenge in the long run. Short term, a separate position specifically for HR in the communities would be a great investment.

Thank you for taking the time to share you experience at The Hearth at Stones Crossing. We appreciate all that you do for your residents, families, and staff. We are happy to hear that you feel you and your leaders work together to accomplish the mission and improve the culture where it is needed. We understand the heartache that comes along with working in our industry and are honored to have the responsibility of providing positive end of life experiences for our residents. Because of this inevitable loss, we offer a free Employee Assistance Program that provides grief and loss support/guidance as just one aspect of the service. If your Executive Director or Business Office Manager is unable to assist you in accessing this program, please contact Human Resources at 315-453-0561. If you do not feel this is enough or have other ideas how we could better support our employees through loss, I would appreciate if you would contact me and we can talk more about this. In addition, although we encourage freedom for our Directors personalize their Employee Appreciation as they wish, I am always happy to brainstorm with any of our Directors on their own employee appreciation initiatives. – Natalie Suits, Director of Organizational Development (315-453-0561)
