No development for wage staff - Lab Technician Heidelberg Materials Employee Review

Pros

The pay is decent if you're ready to work overtime and weekends. Every work expense is covered, no need to purchase any PPE or uniform yourself.

Cons

Wage staff are seen as expendable. There is no incentive to learn or develop as wage staff don't get much opportunity to move up. If you get an allowance for a leadership role it's minimal. After over 5 years of hard work and learning, all my requests for further learning and development were met with inaction. Lazy workers continue to be lazy with no consequence. You're just there to show up for an hourly rate, do what you're told and go. The harder you work or the better you do it plays no favour to the worker. The job is great for someone who just wants to show up, do what he's told and get paid without having to think about anything. Not for somebody who wants opportunity, skills and development.

Thank you for your review of Hanson. We do believe that every staff member has the right to progress their career and sorry you didn't get the opportunities to contribute at a higher level. Senior leaders conduct succession planning once per year and this helps identify those that are interested in progressing their career and into a role both the employee and management feel is the best next step for them.
