Middle management and upper management are paid too much for doing a poor job. None of them check to see if employees arrive on time; are signing in use time off when they have already come in late or left for the day. No person in a nonprofit organization should be making a corporate leader's salary. HFHS leadership are all disconnected and worry more about their national reputations and how many boards they sit on than how well their managing a health system and providing opportunity and acknowledgment to their employees. The pompous sobriety of some division and department administrators is staggering which is evident by the daily gossip between employees. The favoritism for their personal assistants encourages disproportionate policy and disregard for payroll keeping. You're treated like an outcast for getting your work done instead of wasting your time gossiping about other employees. Management encourages the burden on to their employees to get their work done regardless if they're already doing the work of 2 people; and if you fall behind or make a mistake, it is the focus of your entire annual evaluation months later. You are humored by having co-workers who have no idea what you do all day, and with whom you choose to not gossip with, score you anonymously on your annual evaluation. Never think that you will be acknowledged for a job well done or look for appreciation when you do something for your administrator. It is quickly forgotten. You had better bring doughnuts and brand named coffee to work regularly and be prepared to waste allot of work time to "fit in" with your co-workers, especially in administrative areas. If you have a strong work ethic and don't mind having a job where your administrator will do everything they can to hold you back, Henry Ford is the place for you. The pay for administrative support is below average and don't think that you'll make it to average any time soon.
