Pros

its a job and paycheck.

Cons

HFHS maintains a policy of paying physicians below the 50th percentile. I am paid at the 25th percentile for my speciality. C-level and department chairs are paid >90th percentile. Interesting philosophy. HFHS also MANDATES contributions to its philanthropy fund by physicians. Meanwhile its CEO makes >$3M and many department chairs >$1M. What kind of a "charity" does that? HFHS simply does not qualify for charitable donations in my book and yet it mandates a contribution (yes they track it and withhold bonuses if we don't contribute)

Pros

Friendly, safe and trusting environment, leaders that listen, lots of opportunities for training and development.

Cons

Inconsistent between different hospitals and leaders. Health insurance is awful and expensive. Bonuses only go to leaders, even though frontline staff are doing the actual work.
