Pros

None !!! STAY AWAY. RUN , RUN, RUN

Cons

They are running their department on travelers. Management is condescending and difficult, and there is clear favoritism going around. Social workers are not part of a union, and there is no effort to advocate for one. You can’t wear uniforms, and the EMR system (Meditech) is old, antiquated, and incredibly time-consuming. There is no investment in training. There is no floor rotation, and they will tell you otherwise to get you in the door. They lowball everyone, even if you have years of experience, yet offer a $5k bonus just to get you in. Management is disgusting. I witnessed a nurse physically grab a patient in a way that caused harm, and when I brought it to leadership and said I wanted to initiate an investigation, I was told: “You’ve been here for two days. I would think twice about saying something.” That response alone tells you everything you need to know. Waste of time. Do not work here. Most people stay because they live in the area and accept the pay cut. There are also serious concerns about workplace culture and fairness.

Pros

Some helpful nurses, keyword SOME. Good for gaining experience if you’re new, they hire pretty much anybody with a pulse but you will soon find out why. Management is also really nice here.

Cons

Where do I even start… the pay is so low and it doesn’t account for all the stuff that you have to deal with. You get crazy patient ratios some nights and barely get any help, and on top of that you will have to chart for the many patients you have. The bad nurses are BAD, they are so lazy and it’s almost like they are in a competition to see who can do the least amount of work in a shift. They will call the PCA for every little thing, some will walk past the food pantry to ask you to go get a food item or a cup of water when they could have grabbed it in that time, but instead ask the PCA who is busy. The nurses think that they are not capable of doing any dirty work, and it is honestly so frustrating, they will ask you to walk a patient to the bathroom then proceed to sit in the nursing station doomscrolling on TikTok.
