Pros

I love being a diesel mechanic, I had wished since about the age of 17 of being a equipment mechanic and Hertz helped me with that and the benefits are better than any other equipment rental company out there, can't beat 3 weeks of paid vacation after your first full year. During your first year of work the company gives you 2 weeks of paid vacation.

Cons

Hertz wants you ( they will not admit to it ) to kiss their butt ( from shop managers and up the corporate ladder ), but not all Hertz's branches are like that, just the ones who making the company a lot of money and they want you to work 24/7 every week to cover road calls even if you are not a road mechanic ( somebody has to cover calls for the road mechanic who is on call that doesn't answer their phones when called ). If a group of guys from work go out on weekends, they ask if you want to go and you tell them no, they will target you from now on. YOU have to BE in THEIR CLICK or THEY will FIRE YOU.

Pros

It is possible to make a difference if you are determined enough. Many engineers work hard and most try.

Cons

The company has a ton of tech debt that it recognized, but is not being addressed. Management controls the time, scope and so quality is falling. The people they have hired lack fundamentals understanding of software development practices. The company often will make decisions to save small amounts of money with their facilities and tools they give to employees without understanding the opportunity cost that was lost. Overtime is required. You can't work here if you want to have a family or keep your family from hating you. Title inflation is real. Many people are actually performing one level down from their stated title and those that are not are only not failing due to putting in crazy hours. Middle management wont stickup for their people to ensure they are not burning out. They see it happening multiple times in front of them and they do nothing.
