Pros

After I resigned from the company earlier this year, I would have to say that the day to day business ventures allowed flexibility as far as time off and/or leave work if there was a family emergency. Additionally, I was able to control my work flow so that I may take the time to build rapport with students and consult with team members on best practices within the admissions department to succeed on a continuous basis.

Cons

In all of my professional working career following college, I have never worked for an organization who spent more time being adamant about getting in as many students as possible regardless if rapport was implemented or not, along with retention strategies. Next, there was a wealth of favoritism from admissions management to specific advisors who either had a nice appearance, relationship/friendship outside of the office, and/or perk promises. Then, over-promising on upper level management positions and under-delivering on seeing those come to fruition at the office. Lastly, senior level-management playing a below average interactive role by less 10% on the floor and more authoritative behind their executive desk when managing their reporting directors in what to dictate/distribute to the admissions team.

Pros

Everyone is very pleasant to work with.

Cons

Because of the Wisconsin nice, nobody will ever say what they mean and will smile while escalating small issues. They are very new age psycho-babble, meetings and 1:1's are more like encounter group analysis and leadership is so busy trying to maintain a Kumbaya culture that meetings accomplish nothing and when you push back on practices that are not the best or challenge a leader you are automatically on the blacklist. Also if you dont show for the Summerfest thing, you can kiss your career goodbye. TBH I was relieved to leave, during the last few months it was probably obvious I was extremely frustrated with the way the dept. was run like a new age retreat.
