Pros

There are some very nice people who work there. The outside vendors are also nice to work with.

Cons

Toxic culture. The leadership tone is generally condescending and bullying, with a lot of half-truths. Lack of strategic vision. There is no long-term planning. Detailed, actionable plans and processes are stalled, dismissed or ignored. Sloppy work/disorganization. There are no set processes; it is a true "fire drill" mode of work. Programs are consistently dropped or changed yet these changes are not uniformly communicated across departments. It is also difficult to find consistent resources and standards. Turnover. There is a lot of turnover, sometimes large percentages of entire departments, making it hard to develop relationships and carry out strategies effectively. Lack of professionalism and basic courtesy. There is a lot of talk about the PRICE of Success (professionalism, respect, integrity, caring, engagement). Sadly, this is not embodied at all. The culture does not encourage open discussion for fear of retaliation. Be aware that there are a lot of "relatives" who work there. It makes it difficult for people to be unbiased.

Pros

Everyone is very pleasant to work with.

Cons

Because of the Wisconsin nice, nobody will ever say what they mean and will smile while escalating small issues. They are very new age psycho-babble, meetings and 1:1's are more like encounter group analysis and leadership is so busy trying to maintain a Kumbaya culture that meetings accomplish nothing and when you push back on practices that are not the best or challenge a leader you are automatically on the blacklist. Also if you dont show for the Summerfest thing, you can kiss your career goodbye. TBH I was relieved to leave, during the last few months it was probably obvious I was extremely frustrated with the way the dept. was run like a new age retreat.
