Pros

Decent pay compared to other schools in the area, but without benefits for part-time employees. The students are pretty decent.

Cons

HPU leadership has done a very poor job at handling the ongoing pandemic and would rather bury their heads in the sand and pretend that doing anything to counteract spreading the virus is an infringement on individual rights (can anyone tell me where the right to spreading airborne infectious is located in our constitution, please?). As an employee, I feel treated like a cogs in a machine rather than a human being that rightfully worries about taking this new airborne virus home to my family. There is a complete lack of transparency from the University with professors about anonymous student infection rates, there is NO contact tracing with us professors when students in our classes get Covid (although we are expected to not social distance from them and it is impossible to do so in most classrooms anyways), students are NOT required to mask up UNLESS there is a county mandate, and there is NO transparency or requirement of FDA-approved vaccination for anyone. The total lack of concern for public health (and for the local community in particular) and lack of transparency of university cases are extremely concerning and offensive. What are they teaching these poor, young students about civic duty and about being socially conscious?

Pros

Amazing colleagues across all schools

Cons

administration cares ZERO PERCENT for faculty and staff, as well as students, once they get them on campus as freshman. Pay is ridiculously low and we can’t hire new people because of it.
