Pros

Good location, wellness room, decent cafeteria, brand name recognition and financial resources, very competitive salaries. There is a quasi movement to bring in new talent at the VP and SVP level

Cons

Nauseating and radioactive culture. Many of their directors and VP's who have come up through the Highmark ranks have minimal training and therefore hire people who know less than them to avoid exposure. Leaders spend more time hiding failure and moving the goalposts than actually seeking growth. Individuals are expected to work 70 hours per week and eschew vacation or personal life. Collaboration is a swear word. People work in their functional silos. Middle management is encouraged by senior leadership to treat employees like garbage. There is an unconscionable amount of back stabbing over benign issues. Talent is often overlooked unless it is wrapped in an expensive suit. High performing employees are often downgraded due to the employee ranking system which grades on a bell curve.
