Good Culture, GREAT BENEFITS, Lousy Pay - Buyer Honda Employee Review

Pros

The benefits were the best I've ever seen. Not a dime came out of my pay check, and they put money into a rollover HSA with $5 prescriptions. I don't think I ever had to pay anything out of pocket. There is a good culture and everyone is really nice. The hard part about leaving Honda was leaving the people. I haven't found anything like it since! Another pro is they have an AMAZING new onsite gym with great equipment and regulation bball court.

Cons

Purchasing is known to not pay very well. They lose a lot of great talent because lack of pay. I was head hunted and left for an offer making DOUBLE what Honda was paying me. Another Con is it is SO far away from the city. It's an hour from downtown Columbus. You're pretty much stuck living in the Dublin area, unless you like living in BFE. You technically get ZERO sick/PTO your first year, which is ridiculous. How is someone supposed to plan a dr or dentist appointment if work is 35 miles away from civilization.

Pros

The best company I’ve ever worked for hands down. Alabama really is behind the times on pay and benefits in my experience. Honda in Alabama is an exception to that rule. We work a lot of hours, especially in my role, but that’s great for me personally. One of the best work environments I’ve worked in (AC in plant), great cafeteria, etc. There’s even a free gym down the street for employees. Besides the great pay, great pay progression, and plenty of overtime, this company goes above and beyond to provide great insurance, 401k, production based bonuses, 2 scheduled shutdowns per year, and pto. More than that, the culture at Honda is centered on building up the associates in any way possible. I’ve genuinely never worked for a company like this, and hope they continue improving the culture they’ve created thus far.

Cons

Can be congested at times, there are a lot of people in there, but that’s just par for the course. Also, leaving and entering the parking lot is pretty wild sometimes.
