Pros

Stable income even if you don't have good output as long as you are hired in Japan. Flexible at working hours. 20 holidays / year.

Cons

Management is just focusing on internal politics and completely got lost. They don't discuss about improving the organization and change the way. They stick to what they have experienced and future new businesses and just improving the current system. They hate to face the big problem why we keep loosing against other tech companies for 30 years and living everyday with their inertia. Working hour is long. It's 9 - 22 in my case. Too much work but less human resources. 50 % of colleges are low motivated and have strong tendency not to work voluntarily and independently because of too much work. Strong tendency of not taking risks and try to collect too many information and doesn't make decision after this long processes. This company is famous with the culture of "Bottom UP style", but not anymore in this 5 years.

Pros

Vacation policy is ok - you can turn overtime into PtO

Cons

- Terrible Pay: You shouldn’t hustle through engineering school to only earn $60k - Management: Many old narcissistic managers that are not open or receptive to new ways of doing things. I never met a single manager in their 20s. - Company Culture: years working for the company takes presidency over actual engineering ability. You can be the next Steve Jobs or just do the bare minimum - regardless, no one is going to promote you faster for your engineering ability. - Japanese Terminology: used for EVERYTHING AND ITS ANNOYING. Get used to acronyms, schedules, design reviews - basically everything having a Japanese word you will have to memorize. - Paper Pushing: so much unnecessary paperwork meant to keep you busy. This becomes very frustrating because it’s hard to change the company from within when you constantly have paperwork to do. - Location: in the middle of nowhere. Forget about biking to work or doing something fun on your lunch. Also if you want to live in Columbus be prepared for a 45min to 1 hour commute. That’s 1.5-2 hours commuting a day 😬 If you’re ok getting paid Pennies to out your with all the above then take the job. Most people say Sayonara after 3 years when they realize other companies will pay 2x for the same job
