Pros

I was immediately drawn to HouseCall's fun culture and team environment, as well as the greater mission to help service professionals run their businesses. Joining this team has truly been a positive experience. Everyone has been very welcoming and I like the family-feel of the office. Now I look forward to coming into the office on Mondays; I genuinely like and care about the people I work with; and I believe that we're doing something that's helping our community of business owners. Some other awesome things about HouseCall: -CEO & Leadership have open door policy -You'll make friends with your colleagues -Great work/life balance -Opportunity to grow with a well-funded startup -Good balance of young people starting their careers and established professionals to mentor them -Employee retention -Bi-weekly social events -Mac computers -Beer on tap -Stock options

Cons

I wouldn't say these are cons, but people should be aware of the following: - Very much a start-up, so there's no flying under the radar and no task is beneath anyone - There will be growing pains. Don't take things personally. - Promotions aren't based on who has the most experience, it's earned through contributions to your team. If you're chasing a title, this isn't the culture for you. -This is a close-knit team and they are focused on bringing on like-minded individuals. The interview process isn't easy- but the low employee turnover speaks to that.

Housecall Pro Response

What a thoughtful, detailed response. Thank you. Very much. Housecall is a special place to work. All of the typical attributes of a well-funded tech start-up and a whole lot more because there is that rare balance of experienced professionals and young people starting their careers. But you are right, there are going to be a few growing pains when you grow as quickly as this company is. At the same time, it is management's responsibility to be transparent, to lead effectively, and to keep everyone on mission and on strategy. Our ability to do so will stem from a profound investment in our People and our culture. That is our commitment to our company. Thanks again for the great feedback.

Pros

Great people below executive level that want to do their best work. Full remote work. Working with customers that actually make a difference in the world.

Cons

Hustle culture without the hustle pay. Way below market salary but executives expect top company output. Fear based. Executives pivot every week, if not multiple times a day and it creates immense thrash. CTO is completely disconnected from day to day work, talks in abstract most of the time, and when they do mention something about actual work, it's completely disconnected from the reality of people doing the work. Top talent has been steadily leaving the company. Process is whatever the executives decide that week. The current product is mediocre at best and most attempts from talented people to make it better either are ignored or when agreed upon, the rug gets pulled out from underneath a couple months later when the executives get cold feet. If you want to work at a company and make a difference, this is not the place to do it. Promotions and pay increases are non-existent unless you work 14+ hour days, amplify whatever the current executive flavor of the week is, and put your head down and just execute on someone else's poorly planned ideas. Everyone is pretty miserable currently and most people are only still there because the current job market is not great.
