Pros

HouseCall Pro was my first full-time job out of college, and I feel like I hit the jackpot. As a former student athlete, my competitive attitude and drive to succeed was something the upper management saw in me right away. They don't value experience as much as they do traits such as resilience and perseverance. It is demanding work but so rewarding. The training is phenomenal and I learned more my first two weeks about sales than I did five years as a Marketing major in college. The start-up environment is one I never want to leave. As an SDR I have the opportunity to test the waters with operations, customer support, marketing, even engineering. I wake up every morning (even on the early days) excited to go to work. More than anything, the people here are second to none. From the founders to the COO, to every single one of my coworkers, I feel like a significant player and a big part of this growing family.

Cons

6am-3pm shifts, I have to put that as a con even though I would choose this time over 9-5 any day of the week. I wake up at 4:10 every day to go to the gym before work and it's almost empty so I can use any workout machines/equipment, I get to work without hitting traffic, and leave before traffic getting home.

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback. Your observations on what characteristics we hire for are valid - we have a rubric, we know what we're looking for in terms of empathy, curiosity, tenacity, integrity and a few other key attributes. We have found these facets in proven software salespeople just about as often as someone who is a high-volume bartender at the corner pub. With the right characteristics and a proven model for hiring, onboarding, and active management, we win. And, ideally, all of our People feel just like you do in the process.

Pros

Great people below executive level that want to do their best work. Full remote work. Working with customers that actually make a difference in the world.

Cons

Hustle culture without the hustle pay. Way below market salary but executives expect top company output. Fear based. Executives pivot every week, if not multiple times a day and it creates immense thrash. CTO is completely disconnected from day to day work, talks in abstract most of the time, and when they do mention something about actual work, it's completely disconnected from the reality of people doing the work. Top talent has been steadily leaving the company. Process is whatever the executives decide that week. The current product is mediocre at best and most attempts from talented people to make it better either are ignored or when agreed upon, the rug gets pulled out from underneath a couple months later when the executives get cold feet. If you want to work at a company and make a difference, this is not the place to do it. Promotions and pay increases are non-existent unless you work 14+ hour days, amplify whatever the current executive flavor of the week is, and put your head down and just execute on someone else's poorly planned ideas. Everyone is pretty miserable currently and most people are only still there because the current job market is not great.

We're sorry aspects of your experience haven't reflected what we strive for, particularly around compensation and direction consistency. How pay aligns with expectations and how strategic shifts are communicated are concerns we want to understand better. We'd love to hear more; please reach out to your manager, the People Team, or any senior leader you're comfortable speaking with. -Housecall Pro People Team
