Pros

Even after Series C, this company continues to have great transparency with the movement of the company. As the saying goes, “from the top down” - the leadership here at Housecall Pro continues to be extremely down-to-earth and work as hard as we do to provide a healthy culture and strong growth. Lots of talent at the top; if you have an ego, you’ll probably see the door.

Cons

As with many startups, Housecall Pro iterates. A lot. This means sales org changes, position changes, and slight changes to structure every few months.

We will always be transparent and accountable. To do the latter, you have to have the former, and this is true on everything from our financial performance to the health of our culture. The reason I joined HCP is that I was profoundly impressed with the intelligence and the humility of the founders. Sure enough, we move at a blistering speed as a company b/c there is no ego. Ego is like a tax on a business and we're fortunate that is not an issue here. As a result, we always seek the best decision, not a personal one. Thanks for the feedback. Great to hear you are enjoying your role in the company and that you are comfortable with the consistent evolution fo the business.

Pros

Great people below executive level that want to do their best work. Full remote work. Working with customers that actually make a difference in the world.

Cons

Hustle culture without the hustle pay. Way below market salary but executives expect top company output. Fear based. Executives pivot every week, if not multiple times a day and it creates immense thrash. CTO is completely disconnected from day to day work, talks in abstract most of the time, and when they do mention something about actual work, it's completely disconnected from the reality of people doing the work. Top talent has been steadily leaving the company. Process is whatever the executives decide that week. The current product is mediocre at best and most attempts from talented people to make it better either are ignored or when agreed upon, the rug gets pulled out from underneath a couple months later when the executives get cold feet. If you want to work at a company and make a difference, this is not the place to do it. Promotions and pay increases are non-existent unless you work 14+ hour days, amplify whatever the current executive flavor of the week is, and put your head down and just execute on someone else's poorly planned ideas. Everyone is pretty miserable currently and most people are only still there because the current job market is not great.

We're sorry aspects of your experience haven't reflected what we strive for, particularly around compensation and direction consistency. How pay aligns with expectations and how strategic shifts are communicated are concerns we want to understand better. We'd love to hear more; please reach out to your manager, the People Team, or any senior leader you're comfortable speaking with. -Housecall Pro People Team
