Pros

Great culture, amazing colleagues. Truly, the people that work here are the best part of the job. Virtual work environment is another plus. Great benefits.

Cons

No work /life balance, overtime is often mandatory, Saturday work is required at least once a month. When it comes to the sales team, the big elephant in the room is the outsourced SDR team in Mexico that is not paid a living wage, but rather work on 100% commission for attended demos. As you can imagine the quality of demos is often bad. Sales reps are required to run these demos with very few exceptions, which impacts your earning potential. Executive management at Housecall Pro think their exploitation of the labor force in Mexico is a genius idea, cheap labor is exactly what every start up needs! They boast about the call center reps doing 300 calls a day. Often prospects will share that they felt badgered into the demo and they took it just to stop the phone calls. While the concept of having someone else do the cold calling and get the demo seems great on the surface, ask yourself how much time you're willing to waste on demos you would have never scheduled. Time is money, which brings me to the other con: limited earning potential. Unless you work 50 hours a week to get the overtime pay which combined with commission might get you to $78K. You will work hard for that money, while management never once steps in to run a demo when things are busy. They love to tell you stories of the days they were in your shoes.

Pros

Great people below executive level that want to do their best work. Full remote work. Working with customers that actually make a difference in the world.

Cons

Hustle culture without the hustle pay. Way below market salary but executives expect top company output. Fear based. Executives pivot every week, if not multiple times a day and it creates immense thrash. CTO is completely disconnected from day to day work, talks in abstract most of the time, and when they do mention something about actual work, it's completely disconnected from the reality of people doing the work. Top talent has been steadily leaving the company. Process is whatever the executives decide that week. The current product is mediocre at best and most attempts from talented people to make it better either are ignored or when agreed upon, the rug gets pulled out from underneath a couple months later when the executives get cold feet. If you want to work at a company and make a difference, this is not the place to do it. Promotions and pay increases are non-existent unless you work 14+ hour days, amplify whatever the current executive flavor of the week is, and put your head down and just execute on someone else's poorly planned ideas. Everyone is pretty miserable currently and most people are only still there because the current job market is not great.
