Pros

12 month employees are off two weeks at christmas and one week at spring break.

Cons

Get as much as you can on the coming in the door, because once you are employed, no raises, if so its an insult of 1% after 5 years if that. No bonuses at all even for complying with district mandates. There is little value to how much you extend yourself beyond your job description, if that means working 3 job positions when you were hired for one, they will not offer you more pay. Pay is not comensurate with other school districts in Houston and outlying areas.

Pros

You get a study paycheck. I had amazing co-workers who where supportive.

Cons

Bad leadership. You will be blamed for issues and problems even if they aren't clear about expectations or mistakes where made by them. Don't expect a fair evaluation system either. I was under 3-4 at any given time. (Part of your evaluation is how much you do for work outside of work hours too.) You will be reminded that you are a salary employee and that Texas is an at will state constantly. You will be awarded leadership programs that if you refuse to to do or are not able to do during your time off will count against your evaluation.
