Pros
I enjoyed working with some of my colleagues over the years. The pay was SLIGHTLY more competitive, but came with stipulations that aren’t worth it.
Cons
Honestly, too many to share, but I’ll try! Admin talks the talk, but cannot even try to walk the walk. Lots of hypocrisy, wasting of time in trainings that are, “do as I say, not as I do” when teachers are faced with insurmountable issues in the classroom with little to no real support. Classroom to teacher ratio. 30 + kids speaking multiple languages and not being allowed to use any translation tools to communicate with them. COMPLETE CHAOS. Honestly, I wouldn’t touch a teaching job in HISD unless you’re absolutely desperate for a paycheck.
