Pros

Good work environment, but greatly depends on the campus and administration. Working for the community and cultivating the love of education in the future generations. Decent benefit packages and pay scale Summers and holidays off.

Cons

Everything is always changing and the wheel reinvents every year, depending which programs, vendors or alliances are brought for. Lack of support for teachers and staff, overcrowded classes, not enough manpower for the load of work that there is! Micromanagement, needless paperwork and duties, and the assumption that everybody is willing or able to do work during their personal time. Lack of trust in teachers' instructional methods, constant observation and scrutiny, especially by people who barely have any experience in the classroom, who are constantly scheduling planning and meetings to justify their job. Due to burnout, many teachers and staff lose their interest or commitment to their jobs.

Pros

You get a study paycheck. I had amazing co-workers who where supportive.

Cons

Bad leadership. You will be blamed for issues and problems even if they aren't clear about expectations or mistakes where made by them. Don't expect a fair evaluation system either. I was under 3-4 at any given time. (Part of your evaluation is how much you do for work outside of work hours too.) You will be reminded that you are a salary employee and that Texas is an at will state constantly. You will be awarded leadership programs that if you refuse to to do or are not able to do during your time off will count against your evaluation.
