Pros

Paid training. Paid weekly for train operators.

Cons

Horrible schedule. Low pay- Train operators in Dallas are paid twice as much because they are considered "conductors", even though train operators in Houston do the exact same thing. Health insurance benefits are incredibly high for a 'government job'. $80 a week for a PPO plan for ONE person?!! I had free insurance when I worked at a start up tech company. Pathetic. Some days you are scheduled to just be in the 'yard'. Certain supervisors expect you to look busy, when there is literally nothing to do. They also can be very condescending and are on a power trip. Don't even get me started on 'Rail Control'. They think are are Gods for some reason.

Pros

Working in a large government facility. Pay was pretty good.

Cons

Catty behavior from main superiors. They act like high school mean girls. Between their attitudes and ignorance, it was impossible to learn anything from them. HR treated college interns like elementary school children. It felt more like a field trip chaperoned by micromanaging kindergarten teachers than an internship for adults. They also can't seem to communicate without a big Barney smile plastered on their faces, no matter what the topic is. "Metro is so great," reminders every step of the way.
