Pros

Committed staff and faculty focused on student success. College leadership places a high value on providing pay increases and avoiding layoffs. Great benefits, including inexpensive healthcare coverage and vacation leave/college breaks. On the higher end of salaries compared to other Maryland colleges. Organization has a good reputation. College structures are in place to promote engagement and transparency. Ice cream party each year the college wins "Best College to Work For."

Cons

Work/life balance can be a challenge. If you're not hourly, it's likely you are putting in extra hours on a regular basis. Your quality of life can vary significantly depending on who you are working for, as with anywhere, and there are some leaders at the college who are known to be more challenging to work for. Outside of faculty positions, there are few promotion pathways. The college likes to promote internally but occasionally at the cost of selecting the best person for the job. Image, polish, and reputation appear to be of utmost importance to the leadership, perhaps more so than the actual employee experience, so successful employees are those that toe the line.
