Pros

A good place if you're looking for a fast-paced job and not a long-term career. Opportunities to get thrown into the fire and manage/learn a lot.

Cons

Awful company culture, despite some failed internal effort to change it. Most employees here are openly miserable and desperately job searching. Egos galore!!! Major disconnect between cross-functioning teams. Insane workloads. Bad office vibes. All about who you know and not what you know. A lot of smoke and mirrors. Bad leadership. Terrible management, uninterested in helping their employees grow. ZERO process throughout the organization. No logic in the way things work, and no real openness to implement process. Insane deadlines. Bad work-life-balance. Old-school company with old mentalities-- Men often talk-over women in meetings, women struggle to gain respect or climbing the ladder. Employees don't respect each other or their leaders, a lot of drama and bad-talking. Unbelievable amount of turn-over!

Pros

Working at Howard Hughes is rewarding because the company is deeply committed to making a positive impact in the communities it develops. There’s a strong emphasis on thoughtful, sustainable growth and giving back through philanthropic efforts, which makes the work feel purposeful. It’s inspiring to be part of projects that don’t just build properties but create lasting value for residents and businesses. The company takes stewardship seriously, investing in green space, cultural initiatives, and community programs. If you want to be part of a team that prioritizes impact over just development, this is a great place to be.

Cons

While the work itself is meaningful, there’s room for improvement when it comes to leadership and internal communication. At times, the company’s specific business objectives can feel unclear, and more transparency from leadership would help employees feel more aligned with long-term goals. Strengthening internal communications could also help reinforce the company culture, ensuring that employees across all teams feel connected and engaged in the bigger picture.
