Pros

Free college education. Good Paid time off. Coworkers are the best.

Cons

Too much change in leadership. No funding for essential updates. Departments dont answer their phones. Elder workers seem privileged and treat you like you are beneath them. Technology is outdated and the network is always failing. My child goes to the school and he doesnt have cable or ethernet in his room and the wifi is up and down. The dorm is supposed to be new but there has been no technicians to repair the problems and there has been no communication stating when a technician is coming. Paint is falling from stairwell walls in older buildings. The only building that doesnt have major problems is the Research bldg and the Administration bldg.

Pros

Opportunity to mentor and support students as they learn technical concepts. Flexible schedule that worked well alongside coursework. Developed communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Collaborated with faculty and other TAs in a supportive environment. Gained hands-on experience explaining complex topics to students with different learning styles. Rewarding to see students improve and succeed throughout the semester.

Cons

Workload can fluctuate significantly around assignment deadlines and exams. Balancing TA responsibilities with personal coursework can be challenging. Limited influence over course policies and curriculum decisions. Some tasks can be repetitive, such as grading or answering similar questions. Compensation may not always reflect the time commitment during busy periods. Communication between instructors, TAs, and students can occasionally be inconsistent.
