Pros

-Most of the staff, faculty and students are pretty friendly, there is no attitude of arrogance or cut throat competition. People talk to each other and get along well (for the most part). -DC has many cultural and other amenities. -Howard has a strong academic reputation.

Cons

-The university bureacracy is simply insane. Doing the smallest thing may take months of effort. -Many faculty are not paid on time and grants may be frozen because of bureacratic mistakes.

Pros

Opportunity to mentor and support students as they learn technical concepts. Flexible schedule that worked well alongside coursework. Developed communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Collaborated with faculty and other TAs in a supportive environment. Gained hands-on experience explaining complex topics to students with different learning styles. Rewarding to see students improve and succeed throughout the semester.

Cons

Workload can fluctuate significantly around assignment deadlines and exams. Balancing TA responsibilities with personal coursework can be challenging. Limited influence over course policies and curriculum decisions. Some tasks can be repetitive, such as grading or answering similar questions. Compensation may not always reflect the time commitment during busy periods. Communication between instructors, TAs, and students can occasionally be inconsistent.
