Pros

Incredible colleagues: The engineers and designers at Humanoid are some of the smartest and most talented people I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Exciting projects: The work is cutting, edge robotics, and you’ll get to be part of truly innovative and inspiring projects.

Cons

Leadership issues: The UK-based C-suite is, unfortunately, the worst I’ve experienced in my career. Internal conflicts, belittling staff, and general poor treatment create a toxic environment. The founder’s behavior, in particular, can be highly problematic (a warning: think of the character played by Taika Waititi in Free Guy, it’s uncomfortably similar, including dress sense). Unequal experience: The Canadian and US teams are much better—great managers, supportive colleagues, but the UK teams expose you directly to the dysfunctional leadership.

Pros

- I like how leadership is transparent about the business model & targets, and everyone understands how their work connects to commercial outcomes. Making sure we create something that is commercially viable is pretty much the driving force behind all decisions here. - Lots of smart people with tons of humanoid experience. Opportunities to learn and exchange knowledge. - pay is higher than expected, especially for a startup. I like my job but I also like money. potential equity upside is a plus. - Turnover here is actually quite low - with the exception of a handful of people who were laid off this year because of business reasons. Seems pretty isolated though, no concerns.

Cons

- Not a con for me personally, but if you are coming from a slow-moving industry (like defense/aerospace / certain big corporations) then our environment can feel chaotic at first. On the flip side: if you are specifically looking to break out of that slow pace, then you will thrive here. - Processes are still evolving, startup ambiguity can be uncomfortable for some.

Pros

- The company looks really nice on the resume - The salary is always on time

Cons

- Lack of organization, some teams straight up refuse to use task trackers or official email to track progress. Everything is in non-formal chats; - Lack of work-life balance, all team members were expected to be available on the weekends and late at night; - No structured workflows or onboarding. You are expected to know internal information without any access to it; - The communication is very old school, think early 2000s office culture. Overwork, fear the boss, don't complain. Lots of passive aggression. - No benefits or sick leave or holidays for contractors. - Meetings get rescheduled 3-4 times 80% of the time. For some reason, you are expected to still attend them as a contractor. In general, you are expected to treat it as a full time office job despite it being a zero-benefits contract project.
