Pros

Benefits, paid holidays and starting vacation is 3 weeks.

Cons

No work/life balance unless your upper mamnagement or upper union. Managers aren't very good and will throw you under the bus to save their own skin. Cooperation between departments does not exist - Lot's of finger pointing and backstabbing. Overall employee attitude, both union and hourly, is toxic. No clear leadership or direction by managers. Good workers leave after a few years for better jobs or are beaten down to the point they don't care. Supervisors must put in 50 hours a week to be eligible for straight time overtime - no time and a half or double time folks. Basically your taking a 20% pay cut just to get paid straight for the forced overtime on weekends.

Pros

A consistent five‑day work week schedule.

Cons

Hussmann may be a recognizable name, but the internal experience is far from positive. Management is consistently reported as disorganized, unresponsive, and disconnected from the day‑to‑day realities employees face. Support from leadership is minimal, and follow‑through on basic issues is often lacking. Advancement is rare, and many employees feel stuck with no clear path forward regardless of performance or effort. These problems contribute to a workplace culture that feels negative, discouraging, and unnecessarily stressful. Stronger leadership, real opportunities for growth, and a genuine commitment to employee well‑being are badly needed. I would never recommend working at Hussmann.
