Pros

Decent benefits, 401k, okay insurance. Flexible hours, opportunity for advancement in each store. Hard work is generally rewarded.

Cons

Before the retirement of the longtime CEO, Ric Jurgens, in 2012, HyVee cared much more about its employees. After Randy Edeker was elected as the new CEO, HyVee became much more corporate in the way it was run. Hours were cut on all part time employees to below the level to provide health insurance. The last department I worked in, Product Management, used to have to come in at 2 AM on Wednesday morning to run the new ad. Recently, that was changed company wide to Sunday morning at 2AM, essentially making it impossible for product management to have a weekend social life.

Pros

I really enjoyed my coworkers and the management of the store. There were a handful of people who worked there at the time who weren't necessarily my favorite, but overall the team was good.

Cons

There we no significant cons. The pay is not the highest, but these are mainly entry level jobs.

Pros

Hy-Vee is a great company that truly cares about the communities we serve. Our 14 fundamentals drive both the customer and employee experience, guiding how we treat and serve our customers and each other. Leadership actively seeks employee feedback and uses it to drive meaningful change across all locations. There is a wide variety of jobs and career opportunities in many different areas of the company from retail to supply chain, IT, marketing, and so many more. obust employee benefits include tuition assistance for degrees, certifications, and foundational learning at little to no cost to employees, and the company focuses on promoting from within for most leadership roles.

Cons

As a 24/7 retail business, scheduling can be demanding in some roles — though the variety of positions means there's flexibility to find the right fit. With a large, decentralized workforce spread across hundreds of locations, consistent employee communication is an ongoing area of focus and improvement.
