Pros
Can be fun. Time flies when you're busy, the latest you get off is 730.
Cons
Managers micro manage and it is impossible to please them. The only thanks I can give to them is that I'm going into a health care job requiring close attention to detail and it prepared me for that with how extreme and nitpicky they were for working in a grocery store. Sometimes the amount of customer flow became unbearable if I was the only person working. It's also hard to get time off when there's only 5 people hired in the dept. Sometimes lots of weekend hours. And holidays. Opening shift starts at 5:30 am. Also we didn't get to keep our tips. Hy vee donates them all to JDRF which is unfair because customers assume they're going to the baristas. No free drinks since it's a kiosk either. One positive about hy vee is that you can jump around between departments if you're not happy where you are.
