Pros

Unlike many bars, we closed at midnight; customers were from within the hotel and could be simply escorted back to their rooms if we had trouble. Good benefits and pay.

Cons

We were upheld to a certain standard, which is great, but sometimes details of that 'standard' felt like a moving target. At one point we were penalized for having a 'negative' encounter guest, oftentimes this meant for things out of our control. When sharing our grievances with management our department was often dismissed and issues went unacknowledged. This resulted in several repetitive issues, that we would again mention or get penalized for. I worked for 2.5 years only, other coworkers had worked for 5+ years and at multiple locations - they shared how annoyingly often this can occur. It does depend on management, but how easily management was able to pressure us out caused several loyal employees to quit during my time there. I was even mentioned in Yelp reviews from guests happy with the bar service multiple times, but management was hanging over my head for one time a guest had complained about how cold it was at the bar, it got to the point where they could've terminated me for it. I'd offered blankets and hot tea but kindly explained that an atrium (where our bar was located) could not be so easily warmed. It still resulted as a mark against me since they complained about it. So this absolutely depends on management and with how often they rotate managers at locations, you cannot consistently rely on their treatment of the employ beneath them. I left after my 2.5 year mark.

Pros

I had a great experience working as a contract recruiter with Hyatt during a particularly challenging hiring market in 2022. The recruiting program was innovative and well-executed, and it was exciting to be part of a creative solution to help fill critical roles during a difficult time. I enjoyed partnering with a variety of teams across the organization, and everyone I worked with was collaborative, supportive, and genuinely committed to finding the right talent. It was a rewarding experience, and I'd gladly work with Hyatt again.

Cons

The only downside was that, as a remote contract recruiter, I didn't have the opportunity to visit the hotel locations in person. I think spending time on-site would have provided additional insight into each property's culture, operations, and staffing needs. That said, given the nature of the contract role and the geographic scope, I completely understand why that wasn't feasible.
