Pros
Ability to work from home
Cons
I worked in IBM Global Services whose only focus was on cost reduction that was done at the expense of their employees and their customers. Experienced, knowledgeable, highly competent employees were laid-off and replaced with inexperienced resources from other countries. As a result, productivity and the quality of work produced suffered. In Global Services, the only thing that mattered was utilization, and it was not unusual to have quarterly utilization targets of 120%-130%. Obviously, in order to meet those targets, especially if you had taken vacation or training time, significant, unpaid, overtime was required on a consistent weekly basis. Employee raises were very infrequent and small. Unsurprisingly, morale was very low.
