Pros

My individual team is passionate and good to work with. In a general sense, I think most of the people working here believe in the work that they do and that it can make a difference. There are a lot of opportunities to upskill internally if you’re self-motivated and volunteer. You can do a ton of learning if you push to try new things.

Cons

On some teams there isn’t a great decision-making hierarchy. This may lead to more “asking for forgiveness” rather than “asking for permission” which makes people feel a bit isolated and like their ideas are irrelevant. In general, having been on two different teams, I think ICF underpays its people relative to market rates. This is because they do offer flexibility and fully remote positions and believe that equalizes it. In some cases it may. There seems to be a very large gap between upper management/business development and operations. Essentially the people writing proposals don’t seem to actually know what their teams are capable of. This leads to over-promising and under-delivering.
