Pros

Idexx always seems to try to do the right thing. They listen to feedback, have never had layoffs, and continue to grow, even during recessions. They have regular "innovation days" where employees can work with others on short-term projects, and learning days for people to brush up on new skills. Politics are minimal and the general attitude is everyone trying to work together. Remote work is not only allowed, but the majority of the IT department and most developers haven't seen the office since before Covid other than for the occasional get together.

Cons

Projects tend to be very long-lived, as in decades. And working on one generally means unless you push hard to switch teams, you'll be working on the same project for the duration. On one hand, it's great for job security and work-life balance. On the other, it makes keeping up to date with the latest technologies more difficult unless you make the effort outside of work and push for change. The pace of work is very high and stress is a factor, but there's rarely a push to work beyond a standard 40-45 hour week. Salaries are average for Maine, which means compared to your high-tech Silicon Valley pay, it's peanuts. And despite yearly increases, they haven't kept up with inflation.

Pros

Animal/Pet loving company with great people.

Cons

Some of the business logic is very lab or biology oriented so some background with that would help.
