Pros

Very easy work. CEO is awesome.

Cons

Low pay, treats veterans horrible, hired directors with little to no education. Had no idea what federal practices are when it comes to being a federal contractor. Does not believe in work life balance and has a very high turnover. Favoritism is very rampant in the company and no everyone is treated the same. Please don’t work here if you want to be treated fairly and don’t want to be in a cliquish environment.

IDS International Response

It is unfortunate that you had an unpleasant experience with your position in the IDS contracts department. During the hiring process, we ensured transparency by explaining that the position was one that required day to day, in-person interactions with our HQ team. Occasional remote work is allowed with the position, once supervisors feel as though the employee has a strong understanding of responsibilities. We've demonstrated our commitment to veterans with nearly 40% of our team having served our country. IDS also has strong veteran retention and promotion rates, including a 100% veteran retention rate in the last six months and very high rates prior to that. We are flexible with all employee needs, including and especially with those who actively participate in the interactive process for reasonable accommodations. Our team at IDS is educated, with the requisite industry-standard degrees and certifications, as well as experience required to deliver quality services to our customers, in compliance with all governing regulations. It is often difficult to transition from government employment to industry, which is why we paid for an industry association membership and offered numerous trainings to help acclimate. HR kept in contact during your time at IDS, as it does with all of its employees, and again, it is regrettable that you have felt this way. We do appreciate your feedback and will review our policies and procedures. Please feel free to reach out to ids-ihr@idsinternational.com to discuss further or to provide any additional feedback.

It’s great if you want to travel and work overseas. It’s good money for someone young and single.

Pros

Good benefits, including medical and dental. Good amount of paid time off (sick and PTO). 401(k) offers up to 4% matching at 100% dollar for dollar. Low job stress. Team lead typically allows good schedule flexibility. TDY/CONUS travel team allows a daily per diem while escorts are actively performing their duties. Very good pay for responsibilities.

Cons

When attempting to contact program managers, there can be delays (several days to a week) in receiving a response or sometimes no response at all. No annual pay raises . No night shift differential pay. TDY per diem stops while you are not actively on duty (i.e., sick, time off (even on vacation), etc.). Need to monitor your pay, work location in Insperity (for those who go TDY), among other things and contact program managers to make corrections. Ensure comments/notes are made in your paysheet for any schedule changes (i.e., swapped days with other escorts, etc.) to ensure pay is corrected. Highly recommend to have discussions and agreements in writing (i.e., texts, emails, etc.). Extra responsibilities outside scope of escort responsibilities can be assigned at times to assist with overall security, to include guarding doors.
