Pros

Generous annual leave - at least by US standards. Opportunity to work with a lot of interesting and smart people. Great diversity.

Cons

The interview process took many months. It took a month from my onboarding to be provided a laptop and I was expected to use my personal computer during this time. I was not informed this would be the case in advance. I was also asked to start training before my actual start date. There was a lot of pressure to physically come into the office by the department head, despite broader messaging that in-person work was completely optional. Getting my step child added as a dependent for benefits was bizarrely difficult compared to elsewhere and HR impossible to reach in a timely manner regarding this and other onboarding challenges. I was misled that termed positions could be easily transitioned to non-termed positions, but discovered later there are no non-termed positions for non-economists. I was not set up for success in the sense I was placed in a department that didn't understand or believe in the kind of work I do (or work by many of those I was interviewed by). A few months in a peer in another department informed me my job role would be changing based on a proposal her team would make to an incoming leader (not there yet) and so we should go ahead and adjust accordingly. Despite being headquartered in Washington, DC. the organization doesn't honor US or DC. laws when it comes to employment. I've been waiting for over two months to receive my accrued annual leave and have been told it could be 2-3 more months because they must wait until they have funding for their 2023 salary adjustments. With exception to meeting some really interesting people, my experience working here was quite negative.

Pros

I've been working here for about two years now. They're good people, trying to do good work.

Cons

Very low maturity in product, tech, and UX. Extremely hierarchical, to the point where it's obstructive -- but hey, that's what you get with places like these.
