Pros
Close to home. Funds for projects usually available if return justified. Flexible working hours. Direct line managers are mostly reasonable people with a few exceptions who are w*nk*rs. Holidays OK.
Cons
Employees treated as a liability. Employee terms and conditions continually eroded to reduce fixed costs. Recruitment on hold. Senior management seem to be incompetent. That might be a bit strong as they are powerless to implement any changes without permission from Ineos group who seem to keep a tight rein on everything that goes on. All spend authority has been removed from engineers. Senior managers are required to approve all spend. This just makes getting anything done a real pain. The level of beurocracy is stifling and Engineers always seem to be at the end of the chain of delegation. Simply ordering a replacement piece of kit and getting someone on site to fit/repair it is a major task with reams of paperwork, dozens of signatures required, procurement obstacles to overcome, inductions to be organized. Nothing happens easily.
