Pros

The company has faced huge challenges in the last six years, plummeting share price following the crisis, legal cases, and are forced to split following a decision from the European court. In the short term this made working there interesting and challenging, and I had good opportunities for most of my career there. More recently those opportunities became more limited as the company is down-sizing for a new era.

Cons

The company is still very slow to change and lives with outdated systems and old-fashioned ideas. Legacy IT systems and a near paranoid attitude to risk make it incredibly hard to innovate. Management lack understanding of the potential of digital and IT, resulting in a chronic under-investment.

Pros

Horizontal culture, very European with manageable work life balance.

Cons

Limited growth opportunities, endless layers of bureaucracy, disconnected senior management, and lack of a meritocracy are the key cons.
