Pros

I've been with the company a little over 5 yrs now, I've more than tripled my starting income. They took me in as a very junior employee and I've been able to work my way through the ranks into middle management. I've found that there's a lot of "you get out of it what you put into it" kind of results. I took the initiative to learn a lot of new things throughout my time with J&S which has only resulted in rewards. Sometimes the pay off has felt slow, but it has all eventually come. I've had a number of co-workers that have been in the company for many years and have become jaded because they are reluctant to actually try to invest their time into their skill set or improving things. The employees I've seen that have a good drive and are willing to talk to their managers about taking strides to learn or move up are usually rewarded for their efforts. I've had a lot of opportunities to work some of the most elaborate, high-end events I could imagine for being as junior in this industry as I am. Since the company is growing at a fairly rapid pace there seems to be a lot of opportunities, especially for those who are willing to relocate. Benefits are great overall, lots of paid time off can be earned fairly quickly. Health insurance is pretty comprehensive - though expensive. Decent 401k.

Cons

Being that this company is as loyal as it is to its employees, sometimes what seems like standard business practice can be put on the back burner. The entire company isn't this way, but it seems the more senior employees are given a level of favoritism/seniority over the newer employees regardless of who is actually doing the right thing in general or specifically for the company. Not everyone seems to be kept accountable, more so the more senior people. Some of upper management can be slow to respond and there can sometimes be a feeling that those higher ups are just figuring things out as they go. It's not all bad and a lot of things are changing with the company that seem to be slowly remedying this slowness and inexperience. I'm on the hospitality side - I think this is more the industry as a whole or based on the local environment, but... there seems to be little regard for personal/family time. I think that's how the events industry is, especially with the higher dollar clients, but it can be easy to feel burnt out after months of 60+ hr/week.
