Pros

+ The colleagues at project levels around the world - absolutely amazing people! + On my level, the wages were good. No complaints. Workload was high, but that's the nature of our business.

Cons

An organization gone wrong? Inefficient, toxic leadership. HR a disaster. The ambition delivering anything good for other people in this world seem to have stopped long time ago, instead IREX put all effort to consolidate its power externally. And internally, senior management main mission is to compete and outmaneuver each other, and making sure the CEO Kristin Lord is kept isolated, manipulated., and fed with only positive information. Generally speaking, most senior leadership at IREX in D.C. are rather incompetent, and/or inexperienced. At IREX I was working mostly as adviser across the practices, mostly with the Information & Media, fundraising and new initiatives. Probably worst of all: Human Resources unit is a complete disaster, and it has been like this for years. If you are interested in applying for a management position at IREX - don't! HR will absorb all your time and energy. It is not worth it.

Pros

Flexibility for expectant parents and parents of young children.

Cons

A few years ago, the organization spoke boldly about empowering youth and championing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Yet over the past 18 months, it has quietly erased every reference to those commitments from its mission, values, and strategic focus. In a bid to align with the current administration, the organization has shifted its focus to artificial intelligence (AI), and its leadership team now reflects the administration's priorities. It presents as very inauthentic when it mutes the equity-driven efforts it once claimed were central to its identity.
