Pros

Good Pay and Good Benefits

Cons

Only worked for one month. Successfully completed a six month training program for this position with Lions World Services for the Blind school in Little Rock, AR which is apart of the IRS. Which was a horrible experience. At the beginning of the program the school informed that the training material would copied on a disk for future reference. At the end of the program the school would not allow the material to be copied. Could not perform the detailed and complex job task without the training material. IRS also stated that training material is not allowed to perform job task. I do not know what the training procedure is for a person hired off the street, but I was informed that I was being treated the same as everyone else even though I was constantly referred to as a VI which means visually impaired.

Pros

-Got me started in my career as an auditor -thorough tax law training -many senior auditors helping you learn the profession

Cons

-communication from management is not always transparent -when you are at the bottom of the ladder, you get verbal abuse from not only POA and taxpayers (understandable, given this is the IRS), but also management/OJI's. They want to look good to their bosses and will throw you under the bus if they have to in order to save themselves. Even if they gave you instructions that got you in trouble. They SHOULD be supporting you in your function as an auditor, but they'll do whatever is easiest for themselves ultimately. -on job training can be disorganized -bureaucratic culture -like many other companies, a lot of things you're expected to learn by yourself. Such as how to avoid POA delays.
