Pros

The night differential pay that’s 10% Mon-Fri All holidays off Great benefits

Cons

You can only work 1PM-9:30PM, that’s not a work-life balance for someone in their 20s….I truly believe that at the IRS they just higher any and everyone and call them a manager. This has got to be one of the most frustrating, unprofessional, unorganized job that I’ve ever had, and it’s not even the IRS itself, it’s the so-called managers they have us working under. They need to consider who they give the management roles to because most of them if not all really could care less about their so-called team. Every time we ask about a taxpayers account, the manager is available to assist. The lead don’t even know what’s going on half of the time. I’ve been there for seven months and I’m already about to put in my two week notice. This is ridiculous and really leaves the IRS a bad taste in my mouth and honestly I would never reapply there again, unless I was in a totally different state/city!

Pros

-Got me started in my career as an auditor -thorough tax law training -many senior auditors helping you learn the profession

Cons

-communication from management is not always transparent -when you are at the bottom of the ladder, you get verbal abuse from not only POA and taxpayers (understandable, given this is the IRS), but also management/OJI's. They want to look good to their bosses and will throw you under the bus if they have to in order to save themselves. Even if they gave you instructions that got you in trouble. They SHOULD be supporting you in your function as an auditor, but they'll do whatever is easiest for themselves ultimately. -on job training can be disorganized -bureaucratic culture -like many other companies, a lot of things you're expected to learn by yourself. Such as how to avoid POA delays.
