Pros
Just look at the stock price. ITW is a strong company with a clear direction. ITW has resources and muscle and understands operational excellence with the best of them.
Cons
ITW is a keenly analytical organization--it's a core strength. But strengths to an extreme can be weaknesses. ITW is so numbers-driven, it can impede progress. What's more, it creates fear, as people who have been major contributors for decades are shown the door in order to save money or pursue a new direction. There is no such thing as security at ITW--I suspect it is by design.
