Pros
The company takes care of its employees. Training and development opportunities abound, and regular pay raises and incentives--as well as generous benefits--help retain good employees. A job in the utility industry is stable but also challenging and exciting--so much to learn for people who really want to dive in. The company is good about helping people learn about other positions within the company and more about the industry in general. I really appreciate the work/life balance I have, even post-COVID, and feel like my boss and coworkers know that family comes first. I enjoy and respect the people I work with immensely.
Cons
A 100-year-old company has a storied history. Most of that is great, but some mindsets or processes or practices are hard to change when you've done things a certain way for so long. However, I've always felt comfortable bringing up questions or concerns at some level within the organization, depending on the issue.
