Serious Career Advice: Avoid this company at all costs. - Account Executive Ideas That Evoke Employee Review

While I was hesitant to post a review, every person I know who worked at Evoke or currently works there wishes they had listened to the Glassdoor reviews. Whether you think this job will be a stepping stone in your career or a place you can build a career, it will be neither of those. Within a month or two of starting you will regret your decision but feel stuck because it is too soon to start looking for another job. Of the 100+ employees that have cycled through this company over the years, only eight (besides the two upper management members) have lasted longer than two years and only 5 of those 8 have lasted more than 3 years. People have actually left this company without another job lined up because that is more desirable than continuing to work here. It will not be different for you. Do not even consider it. However, if you are still thinking about it, please continue reading for exact details of why it is an extremely poor choice. - Expectations of working 50+ hours a week. Nights, weekends, holidays - none of these exist while working at Evoke. - Low, and inconsistent pay. Some team members are randomly paid high salaries while others are promoted within the ranks, but do not receive pay increases with those promotions. This also plays into their “Let them eat cake” mentality. The company recently went through a restructure but the next day members of upper management were bragging on social media about how they had just purchased a brand new boat and were cruising around on it. - Extreme micromanagement. Upper management will Slack you exactly what to say while you are on client calls. They should honestly just let go of their entire staff and have her run every client because the micromanagement is so out of control. According to current employees, they now have to record their time on a daily basis to ensure “efficiency”. While many companies realize that during the current global crisis, people might need a mental break, Evoke is putting additional stress on their employees to work longer and harder. - Poor management of clients and company. This has lead to several “restructures” over the past couple of years, which lead to significant portions of the team being let go on the same day. It is also very unclear who is actually running the company. Upper management is always slandering not only clients, but other senior leadership. - Poor hiring selections. Instead of being able to thoughtfully hire, they will twist the job description to fit what you are looking for, hire you, and then completely change what you will actually do there. This also means other people hired are not ideal for their positions, which leads to a mess of a company and it makes your own job that much harder to do. They often hire externally for upper level positions even though time and again the external hires only last a handful of months. - Lack of professional development. There is no emphasis on this at all. Any requests for this are denied and as employees leave, it is stressed that this is a flaw in the company but no changes are made. You are just a body that is hired to complete tasks. They do not care about your career or that you grow. Along with this, when you have proven yourself and at most companies would be promoted, you are instead given a set of “goals” to reach the next level. These goals are basically doing the tasks of the promotion without receiving a new title and pay increase. You will be stuck in this purgatory until you find another job or another person in your same position leaves the company. They will then throw around promotions so their entire staff does not leave all at once (note, pay increases are not partnered with these promotions). Again, please save yourself months (at best a year) of your life, because that is how long you will stay with this company, and take another job instead. You will be more respected, better paid, and much happier anywhere else than here.
