Pros
I think very intelligent nurses and other staff work here, there are many competent people willing to sacrifice themselves to their jobs.
Cons
Main CEO (Evans) doesn't understand the culture of bedside care and focuses on too much of a business perspective. Dishonest, biased reasoning for wage cuts and layoffs like the ACA (which has actually helped many of my patients pay their medical bills). Unfair absence policy only gives 4 sick times (or less depending on location) in a year with disciplinary points after 3-4 unplanned absences. Meaning if you are sick once in April and call in, you will have that counted against you until April of the following year. Nurses work sick. Also don't have the staff needed to provide safe care. Nurse to patient ratio usually above grid and borders unsafe. Management demonstrates lack of respect for professionals. Salary is well below national average and nurses in some IU health locations start around $22.33 per hour. Entire IU health system is like a monopoly and doesn't factor in the different needs of different locations across Indiana.
