Pros
They hire excellent clinicians. The people you will work with are fantastic on your team. The team members espouse the values of INOVA completely. Patients receive excellent care from the therapists and are overall successful in the program where I worked.
Cons
The senior leadership and managers are disconnected to the day to day needs of the team. Managers are promoted by the Peter Principle and do not receive any additional mentoring or management training. They are merely expected to "manage." This causes a lot of frustration among team members. The amount of documentation required far exceeds what is required for the position and treatment of patients. This is a systemt-wide problem but the unit is a revolving door of therapists because individuals are blamed for system problems. It's awful because the team is aweslem but because of the overarching systemic problems it's almost impossible to remain at INOVA if one puts patient needs before paperwork. The amount hours spent on documentation exceeds the amount of time spent on patient care IF one were to do it the way INOVA expects it to be done.
