Pros

Remote work and generous snacks in the office.

Cons

I worked at IRE for several years and, over time, the work environment became increasingly difficult. There are many capable and committed employees at the team level. However, senior leadership appears increasingly disconnected from operational realities, like buying a Porsche while you lay off hundreds of people. Strategic priorities shift frequently, often without sufficient context, and teams are expected to adjust immediately despite already full workloads, particularly following substantial workforce reductions. Executive communication can feel one-directional, with limited openness to feedback or differing perspectives. Decisions are communicated as final rather than collaborative, and there is often little visibility into the reasoning behind major changes. This can create a culture where employees feel their input is not genuinely valued. There is an intense focus on metrics and output, sometimes at the expense of long-term planning and sustainability. After layoffs, responsibilities were redistributed without proportional adjustments to expectations, leading to ongoing strain across teams. Work-life balance is discussed, but many employees experience sustained pressure and tight deadlines. The environment can feel high-stress and reactive rather than strategically aligned. Until there is greater transparency, accountability, and alignment between leadership decisions and operational capacity, I would encourage prospective employees to carefully assess whether this culture fits their working style and career goals. Run away from this place fast.

Pros

The office kept systems organized and people responded to communications.

Cons

For the entire three years, the expectation was that implementation work consumed personal hours as needed. I routinely received Slack messages and emails at 9 PM and on Sundays with requests framed as urgent. Weekend check-ins to handle 'critical issues' became standard, and there was never clarity on which situations actually warranted after-hours contact. I pushed back multiple times about boundaries, but suggestions from people in charge suggested this was just how real estate implementation worked. My own time increasingly felt borrowed, and I found myself working split shifts—mornings, gaps during the day, evenings to catch up. The lack of distinction between work hours and personal hours wore me down in ways daily tasks never did.
