Pros
The guys I worked with were great. My trainer and supervisor were seriously laid back and not at all uptight about anything. The work was easy and the pay was within line for the job based on other pest control companies.
Cons
Job was listed as local (literally in my home town) and I expected that the work locations would be within my county and possibly in some of the surrounding counties. I ended up driving over 100 miles a day for most of the first two weeks to meet my trainer. In my personal vehicle. No reimbursement for wear and tear on the vehicle or for gas. I was blowing through $100 in gas every three days, so I was essentially working for two days a week to pay for the gas just to get to work. When I started I was told that it would be roughly two weeks before a certification class would be available, after which I would get a van and would no longer be required to use my personal vehicle for work purposes. When I started closing in on the end of that two week period I was again told that it would be roughly two weeks before I could get certified. If they'd had their act together and gotten me certified when they stated they would or would have reimbursed me for gas and wear on my vehicle I probably would have stuck with them. They absolutely do not have enough employees for the area they're trying to cover. When I started they had two techs and a supervisor that was also working as a tech. They were attempting to service dozens of counties many of which are heavily rural. Hundreds of miles of driving per day, often 45-60 minutes of driving to get from one job to the next and techs were expected to do roughly 12 jobs per day. On days where the jobs were located in the same area it wasn't unusual to find that the last job of the day was 2 hours away.
