Pros

Insignia Federal Group has many good traits as a company including two that stand out prominently. First, they are involved in very meaningful work that makes a difference in the lives of the people in this country. Second, they have a culture of employee growth and development and they prioritize supporting their employees on their career journey. At Insignia you are likely to be involved with really meaningful work. You may be on a project to help ensure our country is safe and secure. You may be involved with our country’s effort as a world citizen demonstrating American generosity to help partner countries to achieve self-reliance. You could be doing meaningful wok insuring that the healthcare we all receive is safe, of high quality, and more accessible. No matter the project or program you support, it usually is one that makes a difference. Typically in organizations when it comes to career growth and development, you are at the mercy of the leadership you find yourself under. At Insignia, that growth and autonomy are part of the leadership culture and not specific to any particular leader. Having a career development culture is a great characteristic of Insignia Federal. To me it is also a differentiation between companies that talk about growth and Insignia which embodies it. Insignia has great benefits and employee engagement practices and a strong corporate support structure for their employees. However, it is their ability to provide meaningful opportunities and support to their employees as they pursue the paths they themselves have defined are key traits I think that differentiate Insignia from competitors.

Cons

On a successful journey to graduate from small company to a larger one which means they will be at the mercy of their ability to manage change and to continue to make the right hires moving forward. They seem very capable of doing that and it's exciting.

Thanks for your review! Insignia’s vision for future growth relies on the strong leaders that we have overseeing current programs and working to manage growth and change at Headquarters. Making this a team effort has been critical, and we appreciate the efforts our managers have made to contribute to it. Our success depends on our ability to see the strengths of our personnel and to allow them to work to their potential, and with empowerment as a core value of our leadership team, we will continue to strive to do this.

Pros

Autonomy, support, flexibility, and camaraderie.

Cons

Little room to grow, but that's more about the nature of the contracts than the company itself.

Pros

One manager was great -- all the others for the contracts turned out to be terrible.

Cons

The business model seems to be to overpromise and underdeliver, leaving the Instructional designers (ISDs) to fend for themselves. I worked for a few projects, and the POCs/managers for each contract were all over the place - some were on top of things, some were not-- being out of touch, dropping the ball, or saying whatever they could to make the client happy, whether or not their promises were realistic, making things unnecessarily difficult for ISDs. Their goal is to quickly slot in people for contracts, whether or not they are a great match. This does not benefit employees, teams, or clients, and it can be a really big problem for everyone, but Insignia don't take responsibility for the problems they create. Also, contracts are offered on short notice and infrequently, so you can't really decline, since who knows when the next offer will be. One note on benefits: they offer a 401K contribution, but it's a "match" of 25% of what the employee contributes, which is capped at 4%. In other words, the Insignia contribution is capped at 1% -- virtually nothing. It says a lot about how much they value employees.
