Pros
By and large, the company culture is very good. Everyone is very collaborative, friendly, and helpful. Some companies struggle with this, so it's definitely not lost on me when your coworkers are actually a pleasure to work with. For the most part, work/life balance is very good. You'll see the occasional person staying extra late, but for the most part that's not expected or required. The company does a great job looking and feeling very professional. The Atlanta HQ is beautiful and I love noticing how quickly the new brand's signage goes up after an acquisition. There's a deep array of interesting problems to work on. The work is challenging and has the potential to have a real impact on the brand.
Cons
The company relies heavily on outside vendors/consultants for a wide variety of corporate functions. It's almost comical. Your job is often simply to "manage" vendors, which means you're not in the driver's seat for the work that your department supposedly does. Even worse: In some cases, the outside consultants have more sway with management than your team does. This arrangement is, at best, frustrating, and, at worst, a roadblock in your career. I've seen multiple people in different departments be sacked with jobs they didn't sign up for due to this dynamic with consultants. This company does not pay individual contributors well. If you're being hired for a "manager" position with no employees... you're basically an individual contributor who is paid fairly. If you're in a non-manager role, there's a good chance you're not being paid market rate. Benefits are decent but definitely not industry-leading.
